Inspired on International Women’s Inspiration Day? I should think so too!

Well today – Wed 18th November – is International Women’s Inspiration Day and if you can’t be inspired today then when can  you be???  I certainly was!

Went along to the 2009 Every Woman National Conference today and was totally blown away not only by the many lovely women that I met and the great workshops that I attended, but also by the organisation of it all!  It was such a phenomenal event and it was organised beautifully – especially that lunch!!!

Learned lots of new information about tekkie stuff today – hence the reinstatement of this blog!! – but was also reminded about some great things such as being bold and never being afraid to be myself and fly the flag for my business (not that I’ve ever had any real trouble in that department!).  However, the highlight for me was listening to Allegra McEvedy’s keynote speech – OMG, how entertaining and inspiring she was!!!  If ever there was an advert for being true to yourself and the success will find  you then she is definitely it!

All in all a fab – and very inspiring – day!!

Where have I been???

I know, I know, I know!!!  Mind you it was to be expected that I would take an unexplained absence from blogging… remember I did say in my inaugural gambit that it would be a miracle if I lasted more than a week!! ;)

Anyhow, I must admit….I missed this weird cyber-journalling!  So, what have I been up to??  Well  I’m now a fully certified Master Practitioner in NLP!!  Extremely proud of this achievement as it has been a long time coming!!

Spent most of last week celebrating in one form or another… the highlight being that I got to see one of my ‘She-roes’ , Marianne Williamson, in person the other night as I attended a lecture she was giving in Central London – a fascinating and truly enlightening experience.  If you ever get the opportunity to hear Marianne speak – take it, you won’t regret it.

WoW – What a Woman! Debrena Jackson Gandy

What can I say apart from I love this woman! Does it sound too much of a cliche to say that I owe my life to Debrena??  Well, even if it does – it’s still true!  It all started with Debrena Jackson Gandy!

I was introduced to her fab book Sacred Pampering Principles for African American Women, was totally blown away and have never looked back.  Prior to reading Debrena’s book I was a little adrift.  I had just got married, suffered a miscarriage and was feeling very ‘uncomfortable’ (let’s say!) in my work as a Sales & Marketing Manager – definitely a case of the “is there all there is” blues!!!   Self-development and empowerment were just tiny blips on my radar – not even recognisable really. Debrena’s book changed that and well….let’s just say that I have never looked back!

According to my belief system, God always makes a way and I have been fortunate enough to have met Debrena several times now and count her as a friend and mentor.  Debrena, honey, I thank you (again! :) ) from the depth of my soul…xxx

Reggae Reggae Sauce

levi-roots.jpgHave you tried this yet?

The avid Dragon’s Den fans amongst you may remember Levi – he was the guy who set his pitch to a nice, easy listening reggae tune.  Anyway, his Reggae Reggae jerk/marinade/BBQ sauce is now in Sainsbury’s so, of course, I had to buy it!  Fantastic – if you haven’t tried it yet then give it a go.  And for those of you watching the pounds (weight ones not sterling!) – it is also low fat, so even better!!

I love the blurb on the bottle “Tune into the flavours and put some music into your food” :) :)

Finally – I’m in (Cyber) Space!

Well, I’ve finally jumped onto the blogging bandwagon – much to the delight of my very dear friend and colleague, Madeline McQueen.  Madeline (and another dear friend, Pei) has been extolling the virtues of blogging to me on an almost daily basis ever since I gave up the ghost of ever using a pen and paper again and bought myself a laptop instead!  Of course, she’s no stranger to blogging and has been delighting cyberspace with her musings for quite some time – check them out by clicking here, she knows some nice people! ;)

As for me, I’m full of the excitement and anticipation that often accompanies new ventures – the real test will be if I’m still posting here by the end of next week and haven’t gone in search of a fine tipped ballpoint and some good quality paper.  At this stage, however, I’ve no idea how or what I’m gonna write about but I can promise that whatever comes out, it will be from the heart.

If by some strange fluke, somebody is actually reading this then please feel free to post your comments on anything, check out the different categories and of course, have a nosey at my profile! :)
